1N4148 Diode | High-Speed Switching Diode - 100V Small-Signal Silicon Diode, DO-35 Through-Hole

The 1N4148 diode is a widely used high-speed silicon switching diode designed for small-signal electronic circuits. It provides fast switching, low junction capacitance and reliable performance in digital, analogue, communication and general-purpose electronic applications.

This diode allows conventional current to flow from the anode to the cathode when forward biased and blocks current in the reverse direction within its rated limits. Its fast reverse-recovery performance makes it suitable for circuits where signals change quickly.

The 1N4148 is commonly used for signal switching, waveform clipping, voltage clamping, reverse-polarity protection for low-current signals, logic circuits, pulse circuits and transistor protection. It can also be used across small relay coils, but the relay-coil current must remain within the diode manufacturer’s ratings. For larger relays, motors and other inductive loads, a higher-current diode such as the 1N4007 may be more suitable.

The diode comes in a compact DO-35 axial through-hole package, making it easy to use on breadboards, general-purpose PCBs and prototype boards. The coloured band printed around one side of the diode body identifies the cathode terminal.
