The 1M Ohm Trimpot is a compact adjustable potentiometer designed for fine resistance adjustment, calibration, voltage setting, sensitivity control, and circuit tuning in electronic applications.

With a maximum resistance of approximately 1 Mega Ohm (1MΩ / 1,000,000 Ohms), this trimpot is suitable for circuits requiring high-value adjustable resistance. It is also commonly known as a 1M preset potentiometer, trimmer potentiometer, preset resistor, or variable resistor.

A typical trimpot has three terminals consisting of two ends of the internal resistive track and one adjustable wiper terminal. Turning the adjustment screw changes the position of the wiper along the resistive element, allowing the component to operate as either an adjustable resistor or a voltage divider depending on the circuit connection.

The compact through-hole PCB design makes the 1M trimpot suitable for electronic circuit boards, prototype PCBs, perfboards, control circuits, testing equipment, and DIY projects. A small screwdriver can be used to adjust the resistance during circuit setup or calibration.

The high 1MΩ resistance value is particularly useful for high-impedance circuits, sensor calibration, timer circuits, oscillator circuits, amplifier circuits, comparator circuits, threshold adjustment, reference-voltage adjustment, feedback networks, and signal-conditioning applications.

It can also be used in Arduino, ESP32, microcontroller, robotics, and IoT projects when an adjustable analog parameter or voltage-divider input is required.

Unlike a normal panel-mounted potentiometer that is designed for frequent adjustment by the user, a trimpot is generally intended for occasional calibration or internal circuit adjustment. Once the desired value has been set, it can remain in that position during normal operation.
